
JP Hamel Photography, founded in 1998 by owner John Hamel, creates commercial photography for books, advertisements, and magazines using print and digital media. He specializes in on-location photography and serves clients throughout the United States.
John Hamel's work has taken him to 46 states, six countries, and three continents. He has photographed national icons, artists, Olympic gold medalists, politicians, and notable figures such as Paul Newman, Dennis Weaver, Dave Barry, Mike Farrel, John Denver, Arlo Guthrie, Dan O'Brien, Eric Heiden, Bonnie Blair, Marty Nothstein, Matt Biondi, Zena Garrison, and the Dallas Cowboys.
He is the winner of 6 advertising awards from The New Jersey Art Directors' Club, The Philadelphia Art Directors' Club, and the New Jersey Ad Council. John's photography is included in the permanent collection of The International Center of Photography, New York.
He is now celebrating his 10th anniversary in business as a freelance commercial photographer. John's prior 24 years were spend in varying roles with Rodale Inc. as Senior Photographer, Assistant Director of Photography and Photo Editor of Bicycling Magazine, organic Gardening and Cross Country Skier, to name a few.
